Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last updated: 29 August 2026
This policy explains how cancellations, rescheduling and refunds are handled for services booked with Practical Preparedness Ltd, trading as Practical Preparedness UK.
This policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions and does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
1. Your 14-Day Right to Cancel
If you book our services online as a consumer, you will normally have the legal right to cancel your contract within 14 days without giving a reason.
The cancellation period begins when the contract is made.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must clearly tell us that you wish to cancel. You can do this by email or by using the model cancellation form at the bottom of this policy.
You do not have to use the model cancellation form.
2. Services Starting During the 14-Day Cancellation Period
When booking a service that may begin during your 14-day cancellation period, you may be asked to expressly request that we begin providing the service before that cancellation period has ended.
If you cancel after we have begun providing the service following your express request, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for the part of the service already provided up to the time you told us you wished to cancel.
If the service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement that your cancellation right may be lost following full performance, your statutory right to cancel may end.
Nothing in this policy limits any statutory rights you may have.
3. Cancelling or Rescheduling an Appointment
In addition to your statutory cancellation rights, we offer the following appointment policy.
If you give us more than 24 hours' notice, you may normally cancel or reschedule your appointment without an additional cancellation charge.
You can cancel or reschedule using the Manage Booking option provided with your booking, where available, or by contacting us by email.
4. Cancellations With Less Than 24 Hours' Notice
If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, we may retain or charge a reasonable amount to reflect losses directly resulting from the cancellation, such as time already spent preparing for your consultation or an appointment slot that we cannot reasonably refill.
We will not impose a cancellation charge that is disproportionate to the loss caused by the cancellation.
Where appropriate, we may instead offer you the opportunity to reschedule.
Your statutory cancellation rights remain unaffected.
5. Missed Appointments
If you do not attend your appointment and have not contacted us beforehand, we may retain or charge a reasonable amount reflecting the loss resulting from the missed appointment.
We will consider the circumstances reasonably, including whether the appointment could have been reallocated and whether preparatory work had already been carried out.
6. Exceptional Circumstances
We understand that genuine emergencies and unexpected circumstances can occur.
If you are unable to attend because of exceptional circumstances, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible. We may offer a rescheduled appointment or refund where appropriate, depending on the circumstances and any work already carried out.
7. If We Cancel Your Appointment
If we have to cancel your appointment, we will offer you the choice of:
-
rescheduling your appointment at no additional cost; or
-
receiving a refund for the part of the service that has not been provided.
If we cannot provide the service you purchased and you are not responsible for the cancellation, you will not be charged for a service that we do not provide.
8. Refunds
Where a refund is due, we will process it using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
Any refund required by law will be made within the applicable legal time limit.
Processing times after a refund has been issued may depend on your bank or payment provider.
9. How to Cancel
To cancel your contract or appointment, you can:
-
use the Manage Booking option provided in your booking confirmation, where available; or
-
email us at ed@practicalpreparedness.co.uk
Please provide enough information for us to identify your booking.
A simple statement such as:
