Please read them before making a booking.

2. Our service
Our Family Preparedness Review is designed to help you identify gaps in your household emergency preparedness and take practical steps to improve your preparedness.

The service may include:

  • a pre-consultation questionnaire;

  • an online one-to-one consultation;

  • discussion of your household's preparedness needs and concerns;

  • practical preparedness guidance;

  • a personalised preparedness plan or action plan; and

  • follow-up support where this is included in the service you purchased.

The exact service, duration, price and inclusions will be described on our website or booking page when you make your booking.

3. Scope of our guidance
Our service provides general and personalised emergency-preparedness guidance based on the information you provide to us.
The service is intended to help you think through risks, improve household preparedness and make informed decisions.
It is not a substitute for professional services that require specialist qualifications, regulated advice, inspection or assessment.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, we do not provide:

  • medical diagnosis or medical advice;

  • legal advice;

  • financial advice;

  • structural or building-safety assessments;

  • electrical or gas-safety inspections;

  • statutory fire-risk assessments;

  • security assessments requiring specialist qualifications; or

  • certification that your home, equipment or emergency arrangements are safe or compliant with any particular legal standard.

Where a matter requires specialist professional advice, you should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
In an emergency, you should follow the instructions of the relevant emergency services or public authorities.

4. No guarantee of outcomes
Emergency preparedness involves circumstances that cannot always be predicted or controlled.
We do not guarantee that following preparedness guidance will prevent an emergency, injury, loss, damage or disruption.
However, nothing in these Terms removes our legal obligation to provide our service with reasonable care and skill or affects any rights you have under consumer law.

5. Information you provide
The usefulness of a personalised preparedness review depends partly on the information you provide.
You should make reasonable efforts to provide accurate and relevant information about your circumstances.
You should tell us if important information changes or if you believe we have misunderstood something that could materially affect the guidance being provided.
Please do not provide unnecessary personal or medical information about yourself or other members of your household.
Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

6. Booking and formation of the contract
You can request or book a service through our website.
Before completing your booking, you will be shown the key information about the service, including its description, price and appointment arrangements.
You should check the booking information carefully before making payment.
A legally binding contract between you and Practical Preparedness Ltd is formed when we accept your booking and send you confirmation.
Your booking confirmation and these Terms form part of that contract.

7. Prices and payment
The price payable is the price displayed when you make your booking.
Unless stated otherwise, payment is required when booking.
There are no additional charges unless they are clearly disclosed and agreed before you purchase them.
Payments made through our website may be processed using Wix Payments or another payment provider identified during checkout.

8. Your statutory 14-day cancellation right
If you are a consumer booking our service online, you will normally have a legal right to cancel the contract within 14 days from the day after the contract is made, without giving a reason, subject to the applicable rules and exceptions.
To exercise your statutory cancellation right, you must tell us clearly that you wish to cancel.
You may contact us using the email address shown in these Terms or use the cancellation form provided with your booking information.

9. Appointments taking place within the 14-day cancellation period
You may choose to book an appointment that takes place before your statutory 14-day cancellation period has expired.
Where applicable, before we begin providing the service during that period, we will ask you to expressly request that we begin providing the service before the cancellation period ends.
If you make that request and subsequently exercise your statutory cancellation right after we have begun providing the service, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for the part of the service already supplied up to the time you tell us you wish to cancel, where permitted by law.
If the service has been fully performed within the cancellation period following your express request, your statutory right to cancel may end once the service has been fully performed where you have acknowledged that this will happen.
Nothing in this section removes any statutory rights you have under consumer law.

10. Our 24-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy
In addition to your statutory rights described above, our normal appointment policy is:
More than 24 hours before your appointment
You may cancel or request to reschedule your appointment without an additional cancellation or rescheduling charge.
Where a refund is due, it will normally be returned using the original payment method.
Less than 24 hours before your appointment
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the appointment, the booking will normally be non-refundable because the appointment time has been reserved for you and preparation may already have taken place.
Where reasonably possible, we may allow you to reschedule instead.
Failure to attend
If you do not attend your appointment and have not cancelled or contacted us, the booking will normally be treated as a no-show and no refund will normally be provided.
We recognise that genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances occur. We may, acting reasonably, allow a late cancellation to be rescheduled or refunded where appropriate.
This appointment policy does not restrict any statutory cancellation, refund or other consumer rights that apply to you.

11. If we need to cancel or rearrange
Occasionally we may need to cancel or rearrange an appointment because of illness, technical problems, emergencies or other circumstances.
If we cancel an appointment and cannot provide the service as agreed, you may choose:

  • a suitable replacement appointment; or

  • a refund for the service we have not provided.

We will not charge you a cancellation or rescheduling fee where the cancellation or change is made by us.

12. Online consultations
Our consultations are normally provided online using the video-conferencing method stated in your booking information.
You are responsible for having a suitable internet connection, compatible device and reasonably suitable environment for the consultation.
If a significant technical problem on our side prevents the consultation from taking place, we will arrange another appointment without additional charge or provide an appropriate refund.
If a technical problem on your side prevents the consultation from taking place, we will act reasonably in deciding whether the appointment can be rearranged.

13. Personalised plans and materials
Any preparedness plan, checklist, written guidance or other material supplied as part of your service is intended for your personal or household use.
Unless otherwise stated, the copyright in materials created by Practical Preparedness Ltd remains with Practical Preparedness Ltd.
You may download, print and use the material for your own personal or household preparedness.
You must not sell, commercially distribute, publish or reproduce substantial parts of our materials for commercial purposes without our permission.

14. Your responsibility for decisions
Our role is to provide preparedness guidance and help you consider practical options.
You remain responsible for decisions about your household, property, purchases, equipment and actions.
Where we recommend that specialist advice, inspection or professional assistance is required, you should seek that assistance rather than relying solely on our preparedness guidance.
This section does not exclude or restrict our responsibility where the law does not allow us to do so.

15. Our responsibility to you
We will provide our service with reasonable care and skill as required by law.
If we fail to provide the service with reasonable care and skill, you may have legal remedies including, where applicable, repeat performance or an appropriate price reduction.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;

  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or

  • any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

We are not responsible for loss or damage resulting solely from circumstances outside our reasonable control or from inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information supplied to us where we could not reasonably have known that information was inaccurate.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.

16. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us using the email address at the beginning of these Terms.
Please explain what has happened and what you would like us to consider.
We will consider complaints fairly and aim to respond within a reasonable period.
Making a complaint to us does not prevent you from exercising any legal rights available to you.

17. Privacy
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law.
Our Privacy Policy is available through our website.

18. Changes to these Terms
The Terms that apply to your purchase are those in force when your booking is made.
We may update these Terms for future bookings if our services, business practices or legal requirements change.
Any change to these Terms will not retrospectively alter an existing contract with you unless you agree to the change or the law requires it.

19. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections available under the laws applicable where you live.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict your right to bring proceedings in a court available to you under applicable consumer law.
